Parties & Celebrations
The ones that don't come with a running order.
A wedding has a shape everyone already knows. A retirement party, a tailgate or a fiftieth birthday has whatever shape you give it — which is harder, not easier.
Nobody arrives at a block party knowing when the toast is. There’s no processional to cue, no first dance to build toward, and usually no planner holding a timeline. What there is instead is a garage, a driveway or a backyard, a crowd spanning eight to eighty, and an evening that either finds its feet or doesn’t.
That’s the actual job on these. Reading a room with no script, noticing when the energy has turned, and knowing whether the moment calls for something everyone knows or something nobody expected. It is less structured than a reception and considerably less forgiving.
We also do a lot of Derby. If you’re hosting the first Saturday in May, you already know the party runs on a rhythm nothing else in Louisville does — hours of build-up, two minutes that stop the room, and a night that goes wherever the race sends it. It’s worth planning for properly, and it books up early.

Practicalities
What these events ask for that a ballroom doesn't.
- Outdoor-capable sound that still covers a crowd at distance
- Power sorted in advance — a driveway rarely has what a venue does
- A setup that packs down fast when the weather turns
- Volume judged for neighbors as well as guests
- Music that spans several generations in one crowd
- Microphones for the speech nobody warned you about
- Lighting once the sun goes, if it's running late
- Portable PA on its own, if you'd rather run it yourself
